The Lake and a Bit – MTB Around Llyn Brenig
Trail Grade – Blue - Moderate Grade
The Lake and a Bit is the name for the MTB route around Mynydd Hiraethog’s Llyn Brenig with an added section for a bit more challenge. However, using classic welsh understatement, that ‘bit’ doubles the route from around 15km to over 30km! Make sure you’re reasonably fit for this one, as it involves a nice descent towards Bylchau that you’ll then need to regain to complete the ride.

This route really does highlight everything which makes the area of Mynydd Hiraethog so fantastic. You will travel from the shore line of Llyn Brenig through forestry to the exposed moorland and back again. Make sure you allow plenty of time for stopping and just taking in the raw beauty of the area and the views of Snowdonia and the Clwydian Range.http://www.ridenorthwales.co.uk

Base Summary: Mynydd Hiraethog Mountain Biking Routes
Mynydd Hiraethog is an area of high moorland between Snowdonia and the Clwydian hills that is reasonably flat once you get up there! Adding to the interest are the reservoirs of Brenig and Alwen, as well as the forestry. For such a man made landscape, the routes are not manufactured and may invovle a bit of map work to find your way around.
