The Ennerdale Whole Valley MTB Loop is an adventurous cylce on forestry tracks that takes you the entire way up Ennerdale, almost as far as Black Sail YH. The routes starts along the shores of Ennerdale Water before a passing the first of two hostels at Ennerdale YH and eventually reaching the lonliest hostel in England; Black Sail YH. The views to the fells on both sides are breathtaking, from Pillar to Great Gable and Haystacks and the Ennerdale Fells. While it’s only around 10km out from the start, it does make a tempting overnight trip for those seeking a bit of MTBiking as well as some peace and quiet.
Ennerdale Whole Valley MTB Loop – Exploring the valley by bike allows you to see the whole of the valley in one day. From views over Ennerdale water to the majesty of Pillar and Great Gable, from the crystal clear waters of the River Liza to the history of ancient settlements.

Base Summary: Ennerdale Mountain Biking Trails
Ennerdale can be found to the North West of the Lake Distrct National Park, near Whitehaven. Its a relatively unspoilt valley, with no facilities for tourists and is usually visited by the walker, mtbiker and occasional Coast to Coaster.
While there are no purpose built technical trails to be found, there are a number of bridleways off the fells that offer some exhilarating singltrack descents. The official routes explore either side of the wooded valley, a wilderness worth exploring.
